Arriving in '98, Ahvala originally came to the U.S. to help promote the sport of Trials, performing at Gas Gas dealers and riding for non-series points in the Exhibition class. For the '99 series, Ahvala set his sights on competing and winning the 1999 U.S. National Championship.

With two world championship titles in hand, Ahvala made even the most radical sections look like a joy ride. Trials often defies the laws of gravity and no one displays it better than Ahvala with his European flair and cutting edge riding techniques not found in the states.
