Vehicle insurance and an inspection sticker are also required. It’s never a bad idea to carry a copy of your registration.
In Oklahoma we dont have to have inspection sticker, will they ticket us if we dont have one being from out of state and only there for the rally?

This is what I have observed these past ROT rallies that I've attended.
No Cop has ever pulled me over to check anything, no helmet, insurance,
registration, inspection, nothin. Of course, i don't act like a jerk on my bike
either.
However, they will pull you over if being a jerk,ie....speeding, DUI, etc....
and naturally will inspect for the necessary credentials.........
What i'm saying is just be cool, stay within safe guidelines of motorcycle
safety and Austin cops will leave you alone.
BTW, What part of Oklahoma do you live in?

Well, the most I've every had drinking while riding is one drink! until its parked and I dont even do that often.
and Im not a jerk, and Im sure theres to many bikes to take off like a jet..(My bad habit) so I wont be doing any of that kind of stuff...LOL
So with that said Im safe...hehe!
Thanks for the reply!

One other thing riders comming from other states call the state troupers office of all the states you are going to ride through and ask them about there states helmet law. I went on line a couple of yrs ago before a 4 state ride and I did not notice that what I was reading was 3 months old and the helmet law had changed in one of these states. The cop let us go with a warning when I produced a sheet of paper with the na's and ya's on it. So a couple of calls makes it a lot cheaper ride.

as long as you have OK plates you don't need a TX inspection sticker

When we take a trip to another state, I always bring my helmet. We have medical insurance and MC insurance, my hubby has taken the safety course but I havent. But Im cover has far as medical so I dont think thats a problem...

You're all correct... The cops have their hands full with this ROT event so unless you
are doing something pretty stupid, they will leave ya'll alone. Let's just be careful, ride
safe and " Let the Party Begin!!!"

Hicups, sorry but I did not even think you were a jerk, please excuse me if it
sounded that way, i was just saying in general terms that if people start acting
like a jerk, they will get pulled over...... Sorry

As long as you do not have a texas address you are good. State of registration dictates inspection!!!! Your good Hicups!!

Bumping this thread back to the top since the 'Search' feature on the forum doesn't seem to work.
On the 'Visitor's Guide' under Texas MC Laws, the posted rules state:
Since many of us live in states with no vehicle inspection stickers for cars much less motorcycles, some might get the wrong impression. As stated earlier in this thread, your state of registration (license plate) drives the requirement for the motorcycle. Note, though, that the requirement for a helmet or motorcycle course/medical insurance to actually RIDE the motorcycle do apply. Of course, as others will attest, as long as you don't act like a jerk on your scooter, the police will not treat you as such.
Ride safely,
Rocket
