I've barely had time to log on since the rally...its been chaotic since we walked in the door.  Tim's dad has been hospitalized twice.  Once for testing, then this past Sunday for 3 heart attacks at 3 in the morning. Thank goodness for pacemaker/defibulators. When he came out of ICU they put him on meds that had him seeing visions and talking out of his head ... then they sent him home that way day before yesterday.  I was SO glad to hear him coherent and sounding like himself yesterday afternoon!! My dad has had two car wrecks .. scuse me, three car wrecks (no injuries!) .. a trip to ER for a cut foot, two car breakdowns - one at the ER so I had to go pick them up at 2 in the morning to get them home and then his tranny went out ... dang, that's three, not two breakdowns.  Mom slipped and fell out of the rental truck they were driving and bunged up her knee.  Our youngest boy came home from church camp with a bad spider bite - appears to be by a Brown Recluse - that had his whole arm swollen up huge and a ugly hole from the bite ... thank goodness he is finally on the mend, but it still looks like he's got a good sized bullet hole in his arm and all red around it.  Our oldest boy wrecked - he thought totalled, but it wasn't - his car that he'd only had 3 days, its my old Expedition that I got hit in back in Feb.  Then leading up to Alex, it rained all week - keeping us from working 3 out of 5 days.

We're on the dirty side of Alex so the rain is torrential.  Yesterday the river started rising. Its now the highest its been in the 9 years we've lived here and the forecast calls for it to rise another three feet.  Around midnight, it got so high we had to get the boat off the lift. It couldn't be raised any higher without risk of damage ... plus the water was getting close enough to the electrical outlets that we were afraid of problems from that. (The electrical outlets are close to 7 ft off the dock ... the dock is about 2 ft above the river - to give you an idea how high the water is.) We have the boat tied to a tree in the yard, floating.

So far, the house isn't in any danger of flooding.  I don't think 3 ft will get in the house, but if boats come down the river the wake could be an issue.  I have a hard time picturing where that kind of rise would put the water. This house was built in 1943 and so far has never had river water in it - I'm hoping that doesn't change. :)

Usually Wildlife & Fisheries does a no boating on flooded rivers for this exact reason the waves cause flooding or worse damage to homes. Call them now and tell them how close it is and they will emplement it.

The river quit rising about midnight ... thank goodness!  We came within 1/2" of the all time record high flood level, it was a little scary. lol  The good thing is, we found out the water could have come up another 18" or so before it got in the house - so we won't be so nervous next time it gets really, really high.  All is looking brighter at our household today.

I'll post some pics later.  The boat is still in what is normally the yard and we are having to move it out a little at a time as the water recedes.
