Ok every year as you know we go on a road trip before ending up at rot on Wednesday and every year I start a thread asking for advice or other info you the peeps on this board. This year's no different. The plan this is is looking like we're going to riding down to South Padre. We've been there plenty of times but never on the bikes and I'm thinking of taking a different route. This time I'm thinking of taking 281 all the way down then jetting over to Raymondville instead of going from Corpus from San Antonio. Has anyone rode that hiway before? Any good places to stop or see? I know there's not much there but you never know. Is it safe? Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

You can take 181 out of Corpus and take the back roads to Austin. If you take 281N you will end up on I-37 north of Three Rivers.

No Idea! I haven't really spent much time in Corpus since I got divorced there.............LOL. I usually spend my time in Rockport right near Copano Bay. I take all the little FMs to get to and from. It's apretty ride but you can get lost real easy.........

Yeah, that's opposite of what I had planned but would probably make more sense.

We may be able to fudge that a day or so but we're looking at a 2 day ride there from here of course just one day back to wherever the FUB may be.

Isn't there a pretty good bar in Bandera? I think I've heard people on here talk about it before? I think we're coming thru there on our way back up from Padre.

Yeah that's it. I'm thinking staying in Bandera if they have a hotel then riding the twisted seesters Tuesday morning and finding the FUB Tuesday night. You could join us on Monday, it's only 2 days past Saturday.

I'm thinking now on the way down that we go over to Port Aransas and over to Corpus. Anybody got any thoughts or cool places to eat/drink or sites to see along the way?
