I heard a rumor that ROT is thinking about relocating to the new F1 track near Elroy in 2013. Has any else heard this or is it just a pile of BS that someone has started. Personally I like the expo center, not sure what the F1 can offer. since the teraain looks alot more hilly. I will say that person who told me couldn't remember who said it but that also part of the story was that Travis County doesn't want to renew the lease. Makes you wonder if it just got started by someone probably doesn't even ride. Anyone else in the Austin area heard this? Thanks, James

I'm fairly sure that is just a rumor. Everyone loves the Expo center and I understood a long term agreement had been reached. If I hear otherwise, I'll let ya know.

Excellent, Thanks for the fast response. I figured it was a rumor but just thought I'd throw it out there. I knew you would know. Thanks, James

The track wont let a bunch of bikers in... and i live close to the track, the roads WILL NOT handle the traffic from the F 1 races and for sure 2 lanes wont work for the ROT crowds. Hell, it wont even handle monday morning traffic...
See ya @ the rally

I agree. I know the roads are very limited out that way even though I haven't been there in a while. I actually think it is just a rumor that someone who doesn't even go to ROT started just to see what choas they can cause. Be safe in your travels to the rally.

Agree, BP...we hit the road Sunday and will be in Austin Monday night (staying out on Hwy 71). Will be 'in-line' early Wed to get the camp set up and party started. Can't wait to try out the new speakers on the sound system!
Of course, if ROT actually did move to the 2.7-mile track, and the RV spots were all along said track, just imagine how much fun the parade route 'could' be, assuming they let the other vehicles back in! Shoot, it would take so long to make that loop you might need a camp/rest stop on both ends! Probably best to stick with the current venue...much easier to get back 'home' when one gets 'distracted' on the loop!
This will be an "INTERESTING" year for the party....and I'm gonna do my best to make sure it's better than last year!
Rocket...departing in 48-hrs for 'liver assault 2012'

Have a safe trip Rocket. And I do agree that it would be sweet if it was along the course. I havent been up close to the track but the terrain has some pretty good slope in that area and not to sure the RV's would hold up. And as stated above, the access to the location is a two lane state farm to market (FM) road. I think it is pretty much one way in and one way out. I would like to see though possibly the F1 track having maybe some MotoGP races going on during ROT. Go hang out all day and watch the crotch rockets race and then head back over to the Expo grounds for all the night fun. Take care and we'll see you next week.

Thanks princess for information. You are probably right, I can see the rumor getting started from the above information. I also think though that there are a lot of people who have a negative attitude towards the rally(remember the photo fiasco a few years back) and they like to start BS. Most are people who think they are experts when they don't know their rear end from a hole in ground. Ooops, getting on my soap box, sorry. Have a safe trip to rhe rally.
