I was on the wait list for several different areas, after the change (rot internet site) it only shows me being on only one wait list for the purple lot. I am not a happy camper right now.....And I don't like not being able to see where I am in that list.

I hope I didn't sound flip when I posted yesterday, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat the first year I tried to get onsite. It all worked out great, I got and still have a great spot with some awesome kick ass Oklahomans that know how to throw down a party!!

The Wait List itself is completely intact and being handled as it was before.  Unfortunately, the Wait List stuff doesn't show up in your "cart" the way it did before.  I don't know if the Wait List will be corrected in your orders before ROT or not, but as places come available, those on the Wait List will be serviced in the exact same order as they would have been before the website change.

Not at all. Thank you for your good luck wishes. I have one spot in purple, but have a second camper and another set of friends who would like to go. As you know there is a one camper per lot rule, or I would not be looking for a second. I am looking forward to my fourth year at rot and many more. Have a fun and safe time.

Spirit,

Any word on the wait list? We are down to a month now and I know I should be moving forward on the wait list but it is so hard to make plans without knowing where you are at on the list. I am sure they could come up with something..

Thanks for the info...

And, I know last year there was some land which was opened up by the owner which was next to the fairgrounds, will that also be open this year and if so how does one get in contact with them?

TO ALL WAIT LIST ROTTERS:

My first year in the Purple was acquired thru the wait list program.  Thank You BOB.  The first spot was in the no power section, but guess what?, two weeks before ROT, I was surprised to receive my sweet spot in the Purple Lot.  So don't give up!

TO ALL WAITING LIST ROTTERS:

My first year in the RV Section was a blessing from the Wait List,  I received a non electrical spot 4 or 5 weeks before the rally, I was happy,  Guess what, less than 2 weeks before the rally, I acquired my sweet spot in the Purple Lot.  Thanks BOB.

So don't give up.

KR - The Wait List will not be up before rally, it will be operational for next years Wait List - sorry, I know that doesn't help you now.  I heard rumor that there was a new RV park opening close to the rally, but I don't know the name of it.  ROT maxed out the area for RVs when they got approval to add 200 spaces year before last due to 2008's Midnight Insanity....it went way past Madness.

Have partaken in Midnight Madness before?

If anyone has a rot spot and needs a rv for the spot, let me know. We have two rv's and only one spot. We would gladly share the pop-up with another couple or what ever inexchange for parking the pop up on your spot.

Midnight Madness is what occured at the stoke of Midnight Jan 1st every year when the RV spaces went on sale.  800+ spaces would go on sale on NYE at the strok of midnight and in 45 minutes they sell out completely.  People grabbing and snathcing spaces so quick it would make your head spin.  Trying to have nimble enough fingers to grab a RV spot vs. kissing your love at the stroke of midnight to ring in the new year.

In 2008 Midnight Madness got so crazy and the system so overwhelmed that the spaces not only sold out in 45 minutes but the system managed to overbook right at 200 spaces.  It was a scramble to get all those people placed ... and pretty much all - no make that all - available space to put an RV was used up.  Talk about some nervous people - one would post that they got a space and I'd add them to the list then another person would post they got the same space.  2008 was total insanity.  But ROT took care of every person that bought a space and no one did without.

So now, when you get an RV space, you are offered that space the following year.  If you want it, you have so long to pay for it then its yours for the following year, if not, it goes into the available pool.  They no longer do the RV site sales at midnight on New Year, they place the available spaces for sale during the day, mid-January.  Its so much easier and less confusing.

But buying an RV space anytime prior to 2009 was done during Midnight Madness.

A friend of mine called me day before yesterday telling me he could'nt make it. I told him to contact ROT and let them know. Val in the RV dept told him she would let the next person on the wait list know and have them contact him to transfer the spot. Today he calls me and tells me that that person called him, ask about the spot, asked the price and when he told him the price (which was exactly what he paid) he said "are you serious?) Now my buddy has to call ROT back and have them contact the next person in line. WTef

Why would somebody put their name on the wait list before checking the price of an RV space?  That's just plain dumb ... and a waste of everyone's time.
