Just a heads up, its looking like tomorrow is going to be the day the renewal notices will go out. Be sure the email address you have on file in your ROT account is your current email addy. If you don't get your notice, check your Junk Mail folder - sometimes they get routed there.

How long do we have to make up our mind if we want to renew or not???

Somebody said Jan 6th ... that sounds about right. I'll verify the date tomorrow.

When ROT sent out renewals last year, they did so without charging sales tax to out-of-state individuals. A month later, in January 2011, when the sites went on sale, the ROT staff added in the sales tax based on information from the State of Texas and City of Austin. I asked Val that same question, and that was her response. I'm no tax lawyer, so I didn't argue the issue. I buy a lot of stuff on-line and am only charged sales tax when the vendor has a brick-n-morter location in Florida (where I live) or when the vendor is actually located in Florida. Good question...betting the interpretation is that since we take possession of the item (our RV spots) inside the Austin city limits, we have to pay the taxes as if we bought them there.

OK...the fun begins. Spirit, perhaps you can pass this to Val and the staff? I have to go dig out their email addresses from last year. I'd reply via reply email to the 'renewal' email...but I have not received a renewal email. Here's my fun...maybe a few others have something similar???
1) I did not get an email to my registered (for five years now) email account. Yes, I checked the spam/junk folders.
2) So, I checked the 'Orders' section of my account and noticed that I DID get the renewal options on two of my three spots. Of course, those two are the non-parade route spots...which I intended NOT to renew. I did NOT get an option for the C-37 spot.
Last year, Val & company did great things sorting out several issues relating to spots, renewals, etc. Hope this one gets sorted out, too.

Your correct about sales tax Rockett. When I use to sell my wares at Festivals I was usualy in a different county every weekend. I had to keep track of the tax codes and rates. It was alway a different rate according to the county I was in. Pain in the butt to keep up with.
I checked my basket today to. Yes it's doing stange things. Cliked on re new lot just to see what the details were and a counter went off on me. Started counting down that I only had 59 min. to check out with it. I logged out REAL FAST to make it stop, lol. Still not sure what I'm gonna do. Will probely get it but not sure if I will attend.

FOR THE FUTURE PARADE ROUTE RENTER ..... LOOKING AT THE MAP IT DOSENT SAY EXACTLY WICH #S ARE ON THE PARADE ROUTE WHEN ITS TIME TO BUY WILL IT SAY ON THE PARADE ROUTE OR AVAIL ON THE PARADE ROUTE.....???

They aren't specifically identified as "parade front" or anything on the map, just find the parade route and look at each section's map that it goes through to determine which spaces you are interested in.

Got the PM, Spirit. Also got the emails for two of the three spots. I clicked on renew order for one of those and did not get a count-down...looked like last year to include same price.
Thought I'd explain the one order that is not 'renewable' yet. I had two parade spots from 2009 in Purple that came up for renewal in 2010. We decided one spot on the parade was fine and turned the other back (eventually went to Les...that's another story; suffice it to say, Val sorted it out as she always does). That order, though, shows a 'Partial Cancel' status in my order history, which is probably the hold-up. Guessing the system can't renew a Partial Cancel since it does not tag the part of the order that was actually cancelled.
SO...if you cancelled something off the order from last year that has the spot you want to renew (another spot or perhaps a back-ordered item?), suggest contacting the ROT staff as that order probably will not automatically pop up the 'Renew Order' option.
Will post the results from Val & Gang, which I trust will be quickly addressed.

haven't got a renewal notice, but checked my orders and the renewal was there with the date of 12/14/2010. Confused me. Anyone else have this date on theirs?
Posted: 12/15/2011 05:47 PM
Mine says 12/6/2011 but the e-mail says I have until 1/6/2012.

The "Renew Order" link to the side is the key; the date is the day you processed the order last year so it will differ from person to person. Both of my renewal notices (emails) had the same comment that we have until Jan 6th to renew. Since the staff will soon post CR-3.0 (cart rules version 3), I'd suggest holding off on things until the dust settles. Texas may be big, but not so big that a little Christmas Cheer can't find its way into those new rules.
I'm hoping for an early Christmas Present in the form of Rodney-King-cart-rules: you know, "Can't we...can't we...just get along???" Or maybe some from that fellow Texan, George Dub-ya, "Kinder, gentler, and compassionate."
Wait 'n & hope 'n....

Thanks for the explanation.

Hey Spirit,
I asked earlier and got the response from another RVer that parade spots in Purple went up by $60. I checked the RV Spaces under the store, and they still show the same price as last year ($550). So...if the spaces DID go up, then that part of the website needs to be updated. The price for non-parade route Purple spots WAS the same as last year according to my renewal email/orders. I know the staff have a hundred other things going on. When they get a chance to catch their breath, it might stave off more adverse publicity to get the prices in the STORE to agree (assuming there was a price increase).

Thanks Rocket, I've brought it to their attention. :)

I got the renewal notice for the Parade Route spot about two minutes after the last post. And the prices match...no change from last year. What I believe was referred to as a 'price increase' was the addition of sales tax. Last year was RENEWALS did not include sales tax (the lot sales in January DID include it). So...if you had a Jumbo Lot which runs $630, and they add the 8.5% Austin/Texas sales tax, then your price to renew THIS year will be about $54 higher than last year. The actual spot price is the same...at least it is for the non-Jumbo Purple Parade Spots.
And cudos to Val and the ROT Staff for getting my renewal sorted...in under two days...amidst all the other things.
