they usualy go on sale at 10 am I need to know the date to take time off of work bc I work 8 to 5

I am checking to see if a sale date has been established yet. As soon as I get the info, I'll let you know. To purchase the spaces you'll need to be logged onto the site then go to http://www.rotrally.com/store/2/rv-spaces. Last year space availability wasn't announced prior to them going on sale, so you will need to have an idea of where you want to be so when they open, you'll know basically where to look to find a space. Historically, the prime spaces kind fly off the shelf within seconds. A few less than prime spots take a little longer to sell out -- but all the spaces are usually gone within a few minutes.
If you want a space, be online the very second they go on sale or you might miss out.

Just got my lot renewed. Val told me right off the bat what the probem was so yall keep this mind when ya try to get a lot.
My order wouldnt complete until I picked a t shirt size. I didnt see the box with the t shirt size in it because the text size on my page settings were set at largest. I reduced the text size, then I saw the little box that I couldnt see before.

In other words, old people need to wear their readers instead of upping the print size on their PC.

Btw, looks like the 16th will be the date for RV sales. Soon as I get a definite go on it, I'll let you know.
And, 10:00 am will be the sales time.
Man, is that better than Midnight Madness on NYE for EVERYONE who wants a site!! I don't miss the "good" old days at all in that respect. Its sure nice to toast in the NY with friends instead of getting bleeding fingers on the computer trying to get an ROT RV space. lol

Hopefully they'll stick to the 16th and maybe even make it a tradition. While not everyone has it, the 16th is a Federal Holiday for many. Having the 'sale' occur on a holiday makes sitting at the keyboard ready to overload the ROT servers much easier! Last year I had my laptop at my desk behind my work computer...looked like I was furiously typing away at a test report when in reality, I was struggling to get a purple spot into my shopping cart!!!

BJ,
Short answer: wait for the spots to go on sale; if you find one you like better AND get it into your cart, purchase it; then 'return' your other spot. The return will cost you $25 per spot.
Alternatively, you can sell the extra spot(s) on Craig's List or eBay but BEWARE...you can only sell them at face value, not for a profit which can create issues. The ROT Staff monitors both eBay and Craig's List for spaces being sold to check for pricing (I speak from experience there). If you list the spot for more than 'retail', they'll file a complaint with eBay/Craig's List which will halt the sale--they can (and have) revoke your spot since prohibiting you from reselling at a profit is in the 'agreement' you checked when you bought/renewed the spot. And 'listing for a profit' includes setting a higher sale price to cover listing fees, seller fees, PayPal, etc. Unless you are trying to hang onto a spot for subsequent years, It's usually better for you and the eventual buyer to let the ROT Staff (Val) handle the reallocation by turning the spot back in. That's the only way to guarantee the new buyer gets the spot, and you don't get caught in the middle.

Here's the actual quote from the FAQ's page, under RV spots:
If you notify us before April 01 and we are able to re-sell the space to the next person on the list, we will give a refund of the space fee less a $25 handling charge for each space. {I added the emphasis}
There were some folks considering returning their spots at the last minute as a form of protest of the new rules/changes. That might be a bit expensive since by the agreement, ROT has to re-sell the spot for you to get a refund. My gut feeling, though, is that every spot will sell out when they go for public sale in January; the waiting lists will fill up again; and every spot turned back in by April 1st will get reallocated to someone else...even if the rules stay the same. I believe they were still swapping/reallocating spots as late as May last year, for that matter.
I'm hoping like many that the UTV rule is rescinded since telling the difference between a highly modified golf cart (lift kit, oversized tires, rails, beds, etc) and a bare-bones UTV is difficult if not impossible.

I am with you Rockett on the UTV. I expect to see much confusion and tempers flaring at the cart registration desk over what is considered a modified golf cart and what is an UTV. Both have steering wheels. Let's hope they decide to allow UTV's for our sake and for the ROT staff who will have to deal with the problem at the registration desk.

If it helps....
Last year, I had a spot well separated from our main spot at renewal and like you, wanted to be more conveniently located. When the spots went on-sale, I found one across the 'alley' and purchased it (finally...the servers were overloaded!!). At the same time, I returned the 'extra' spot. The refund for the returned spot actually beat the credit card charge for the new spot by a couple days...they were both on the same credit card bill, so I was only out the $25 fee.
In order to offer spots in advance, the staff (in this case, Val or Bob) would have to publish all the vacant spots days in advance, then handle likely hundreds of individual requests for 'swaps', making it prohibitively time consuming. Last year, and the year prior, they did not publish the 'available' spot maps until the spots went on-line for sale. Probably gonna be that way this year, too.

Hey. Any idea how much an RV spot costs, if it includes admission, etc? We tent camped last year, but have a few friends that may join us this year and I'm trying to get them some info.

Different lots cost different amounts. Here's a link to the RV spaces so you can check out the prices. :)
