This will be my first ROT. I wanted to buy a parade route space. ...they ... sold out ... I'd like to try the rally parade front at least once. Any suggestions? Thanks. Ocho
(You can't buy or sell anything on the forum ... see Board Rules :) ... but there were too many posts on here to delete the thread so I altered your post a bit to conform with board rules. lol Hope you don't mind.)

You certainly might consider putting yourself on the "Wait List" for a parade route spot in Purple, Lime or Blue, as well. There should be a link on the website and suggest following up with an email to Val at the email in the RV lot page under RV Support. Given the changes for this year, several have already moved from non-parade to parade spots; more will likely follow. That will guarantee you the option of renewing next year since you will be assigned the spot. As for price, ROT prohibits selling spots 'for profit' and monitors Craig's List, eBay and other sites for spots on sale at higher than list price.

Thanks for all the info. I will sign up. As for price gouging, The Dallas CL ad is above the asking price, is it not? Also, for the ROT rally officials, check the doosy!! Please forward this to anyone that has a say. Unethical as Ive ever seen!!
link forwarded, thank you ~ Spirit

Yep...flew A-10s, the AT-38s and F-15Es in the USAF for 26 years, with about 40 other types along the way from going through the Test Pilot School. Final tour was flying C-12s in Pakistan/Afghanistan. Now fly my private plane around when I'm not working on the second plane, riding, boating or off in the RV. My wife accuses me of actually trying to win that old statement about the 'one with the most toys.'
Really believe if someone puts themself on the wait list for a parade spot, they'll probably get one. Todd & company (and others) got parade spots last year and that was back when ALL the spots sold in the first two hours.

Rockett, quite a resume. I currently fly the Airbus for US Air. Im a former America West guy before the the merger. Not as exciting as your career but its got its moments!! What do you fly around in now? What ya building? BTW, my wife says the same thing. Whats cool is most the toy are her idea. Gotta love that.
I emailed the ROT people about the waiting list, but havent heard back yet. BTW, I responded back to the gougers with the SA CL ad in a pretty terse fashion. Told them that what their trying to do is very unethical and I'd be sure to advise the ROT powers to be just in case they may have missed the ad!! IMHO, its BS. Ive never attended a ROT before, but I would never gouge like that!!

Ocho...I have several friends flying for USAir. Thought about going to Emirates after retirement...decided to stay home. Funny thing that last tour in Pakistan--I was escorting the Chief of Pak Air Force to Lock-Martin/Fort Worth in June 2006 prior to the F-16 purchase. At the BBQ social dinner, when I mentioned riding motorcycles, several of the LM-Aero guys described how they'd just returned from ROT and why I should add it to my Rally List. I retired the next year and actually spent my last days on active duty (on terminal leave) and first 'civilian' days at ROT '07. I've been back every year since.
We're at Purple C-37, and make a 'party-zone' with C-36/35 there at the corner of Lime/Purple on the parade route. Still working the details with our neighbors, but guarantee it will be a fun setup. Swing by and we can swap 'toy stories'. Who know, our respective other halves might give each other ideas from which we'll no doubt benefit!

Sounds good. If I can get a parade route spot then I will come by. We live out on TX 71, which is the gateway to the hill country and many great riding routes. Every weekend I hear the rumble of bikes headin to the Hill Country. ROT rally is exeptionally busy. If yall end up ridin out this way, you have to stop by. We can ride the Hill Country as a group.
I made contact with the guy from Dallas. Hes only selling for this year. Apparently, a bunch of them have to deploy and wont be attending. Id like to get a permanent spot near the action. Do you or anyone else have a direct link to this waiting list?
Thanks again, and happy hunting!! Ocho

I'll see what I can find out about the wait list for 2012. I don't know if its even been started yet. Man I'm out of the loop and I'm supposed to BE the loop. lol

By the time rally gets here, they'll all be gone. :D I'm kind of thinking we now have an idea of how many people had UTV/ATVs that RV'd.

The green lot's gonna rock!
Posted: 3/8/2012 5:32:36 PM
OK, so this is gonna be my first time with RV at the ROT. 4th ROT trip. I can not make it before Thursday, probably after noon. Any suggestions of how I am going to get the rig in and parked in Orange lot with all the activity going on? Is there any "traffic control" or other means of helping out, because I TOTALLY SUCK at backing in a 36' fifth wheel, besides the fact I have to unload the bike from the toyhauler section of it before I park. I am really a little worried about this.
Thanks
DYNK

Dynk, try not to worry too much as I am sure there is plenty of staffers and volunteers that will help you get in and as far as backing it in I know you will find plenty of help getting there..I am in purple E 10-J if you need a hand I am willing to help. as things progress and everyone gets set I am certain it will go smoother than you would think.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I am looking forward to this. I do wish I was at least on the parade route side of Deckers, but, I guess you get what you get when you get it late. Thanks again
