I'm looking to buy a grill, smoker, BBQ, propane to use at rallies. It needs to be easily loaded by one person and not take up too much room. I really prefer using real wood but I'm looking for any ideas. If anyone has used or has a traeger grill I'd like to have some input on them. From what I'ver read they might be the grfeatest thing since peanut butter.

I love Aussie gas grills.  They are easily assembled, the heat is evenly distributed, they are compact and the price is right.  I just love them.   For camping I like gas, less to transport. :)

Terry, I have a Traeger and I think if you try one, you'll never go back to charcoal or propane.  The only drawback is that the Traeger brand pellets are a little pricey.  But they have a huge variety of "flavored" pellets. I found a place in Raton, NM that sells wood pellets for about $5.00 for a 50 pound bag, compared to $20.00 for a 20 pound bag of Traeger wood pellets.  If you have a ramp you can just roll it into the trailer or the pickup.  You will have to have electricity tho, an electric motor is what feeds the wood pellets to the fire.  I cook pizza on mine all the time.... I say give it a try.  Cool

Thanks Bebop, I've really been thinking on the traeger. I hadn't even thought of the price of the pellets. I was told that the ash leftovers were much less than that of charcoal and wood. Is the heat pretty even across the grill?

the heat is indirect, so it has a very even heat distribution.  there is a diverter, so to speak, between the flame and the cooking surface.
