There is no quiet place at ROT, there's less noisey but no quiet spots.

IT gets noisier each year, let's see inside motorhome, ac on high, lots of alcohol, still heard the joys of ROT.

There was one year I found a quiet spot, then I woke up.  LOL

I believe that you will find the noisest areas along the parade route and main roads.  As for ants, don't know.  Bring plenty of ant/bug spray and spray the area around where you plan to camp and then periodically spray to make sure they stay away.  Also need to stay out of the low lying areas.  If, for some unforseen reason, the rain were to come down, you don't want to have your camp in the middle of the new lake at ROT.  LOL

Just find the spot that best suits what you want and stake out a camp area.

We like it out behind Paradise Bar.  It is less noisy and a lot more shady.   I usually bring a windex spray bottle with some insect spray and spay the area under and around the tent and canopy.  It sure does help with the bugs.  I find cattle spray works pretty good, and its safe to be around.

If?  IF??  ROT stand for Rain On Thursday, don't cha know?  2008 was the only Thursday it hasn't rained at ROT since we started and Mother Nature made up for the oversight last year ... with a vengence.  Can you say tore - nay - DOH!!  Thank goodness it didn't hit us ... that was a scary storm!!  That big light everyone uses as a landmark for my campsite ... lightening hit it, knocked it clean out.  The first time we've ever had to use our canopy lights for lighting.

We were down by the last gate and it was probably the quietest spot on the grounds. You will miss alot of the action if you stay in camp though.  And oh yeah, if it rains ( we didn't get there till late friday) the place is a big pool of water. LOL If there's a chance of rain, stay away!

We stayed just down from the Paradise last year and on the other side of the Banditos fence. they actually made very good neighbors and kept everything clean.  Lots of shade and close to parade and the FUB. Not a big area though so if you don't get there early you'll miss the shaded spots.

Behind Paradise Bar is where we will be again this year, AND WE WILL NOT BE QUIET!!  I always bring Sevin Dust and spread it all around my area, before I put a big ground tarp down, then put my tent up on the tarp.  One bad year of chiggers will teach you to be prepared.

What time do you normally get there to get a good spot?

When the gate opens, you'll be supprised how fast it starts to fill up.

I always get there between 10 a.m. and 12 noon on Wednesday.  If you are not arriving until Thursday, you'll still be fine.  We just like to get set up and settled in behind PB and start the pre-party!

We camped behind PB last year. It was great. A little out of the way if you are on foot, but it was worth it to have a place to get away from the noise and relax. Cool

Camping under trees would be nice this time got there later and camped in the open in 2008

Still not sure where i will set up camp,  but looks like a lot of locations to choose from,  maybe by PB.

Does any one say anything if you make your bike into a lean-to and sleep (ok pass out) in the street?

sounds like a poor-boy tent to me. doubt anyone would care what type of tent you have.
