Golf Carts

What is a Golf Cart?

If it looks like a golf cart or is built on a golf cart chassis and does not exceed 20mph it is a golf cart in our eyes. If it is smaller than a golf cart and built on another type chassis (Ex: powered ice chest, bath tub, mini dune buggies, etc.) it will be allowed. No trailers of any kind will be permitted on the parade route.

Golf Cart and ATV/UTV Guidelines for 2013

The ban on ATV’s and UTV’s has not been lifted and they will not be allowed on the rally grounds.

The guidelines were developed to 1) allow more motorcycle presence on the parade route 2) improve traffic flow and 3) to be safer. The safety of folks that attend our event is of the utmost importance. The positive website comments are coming in so thank you for your patience while we worked thru the details.

The following guidelines must be adhered to:

  1. MOTORCYCLES HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY AT ALL TIMES!!! NO EXCEPTIONS.
  2. No trailers on the parade route. Trailers can only be used for carrying camping supplies, motorcycles, etc. Otherwise, they must be at the free trailer drop or your campsite.
  3. Carts are to stay on the outside lanes or shoulder side of roadway. Inside lane is for bikes only.
  4. No stopping on the roadway. Don’t create traffic jams; pull over to the side so other carts can pass!
  5. No double deck carts.
  6. All carts must be registered. There is a registration fee of $20. You will be given an identification number that must be prominently displayed on your cart at all times.
  7. Rally organizers discourage over consumption of alcohol while operating any vehicle. The majority of injuries during rally weekend are alcohol related. Know your limits!
  8. If you desire to rent a cart you must make arrangements on your own and follow the guidelines for delivery in the FAQs below. Participants with carts are encouraged to act responsibly and comply with the changes. Failure to do so could result in the impoundment of your cart for the duration of the rally, your expulsion from the rally grounds without refund or both.
  9. Golf Carts must have headlights and taillights.

 Thank you for your cooperation,

FAQ’s

  • What about the people who arrive and are not aware of the changes?
If it is a golf cart, they will need to register it and pay the fee. If an ATV/UTV, it will not be allowed on the rally grounds.
  • Why is all this necessary?
For the past few years the complaints have dramatically increased from attendees who want more of a motorcycle presence without the congestion from 4 wheel vehicles.
  • What if I ignore the restrictions?
If anyone shows up with an ATV/UTV they will be 'escorted by TSCO to the impound area and their ATV/UTV will be stored (at no costs) until they leave.
Anyone caught violating will NOT be given a warning, they will either impound the unit at a cost and/or ask to leave the venue.
  • How & when do I pay the fee?
When you check in at registration, look for the banner that says “Cart Registration”, that is where you pay and get your sticker.
  • Why do I have to register with all my personal info?
So ROT staff or the Sheriff can find you in case there are issues with your cart.
  • Exceptions?  Exceptions to these guidelines are: Sheriffs and Security, Maintenance personnel, Expo Center personnel, ROT staff and Medical Response Personnel. All official carts will be clearly marked.
  • I am handicapped or have a medical issue.
Provisions will be made for the handicapped and requests granted on a case by case basis. Bring your official handicapped documents when you register your cart.
  • When can my cart be delivered?
If you have a golf cart being delivered through a cart rental company, you must take possession of that cart in the registration parking lot during daylight hours after 12 noon on Wednesday June 12th. Carts may not be delivered to your camp site. Please take possession in the registration parking lot and then you must register that cart in the registration area in the large show barn.
  • Why are trailers not allowed on parade route?
Most trailers are wider than the vehicle they tow. The driver many times is unaware of this and clips the legs of pedestrians often breaking bones.
  • Why are some UTV's allowed on the grounds?
Staff and Crew that are required to use UTV's are allowed to use them with official signage only during daylight hours; at night NO ATV/UTV (except emergency personnel) will be allowed in use.
